Menorah as a symbol of Christ and the Tree of Life – Part 5

This is part 5 and the final part of a multiple part posting. Please read PART 1, PART 2, PART 3, and PART 4 to get all the background.

The Menorah is the Tree of Life.

As we know, the facade of the Salt Lake Temple is full of symbolism. Even its spires represent something. The temple itself is in the shape of a Menorah. Notice that the Salt Lake Temple has the exact same shape, three branches on the right and three branches on the left with a middle connecting them. Hence the Tree of Life is also a symbol of the temple. When we go to the temple we partake of the fruit of the Tree of Life. the Tree of Life is also a symbol of the temple. When we go to the temple we partake of the fruit of the Tree of Life. So when Moses sees the burning bush, it is a temple experience, when Lehi sees the vision of the Tree of Life, it is a temple experience.

Next time you attend the temple, any temple, think about the symbolism. Most temples have a design pattern that runs through the entire building. See if you can discover what is symbolic in that temple. I assure you, there is something about the design elements in every one of our temples. For example, a square often symbolizes the four corners of the earth while the circle represents eternity.

Not only is there symbolism in the building design, but there is also more symbolism in the temple work that we do. Ponder on all the elements you see, hear, and feel and discover for yourself the depth of the gospel and the love the Savior has for each one of us.

Ultimately, for each of us, the temple is where we find Christ and experience the richest blessings of the gospel and His Atonement.
