Newborn Kit being used
Newborn Kit being used

This is a letter written by a Relief Society President in Bangkok.  We don’t always see how our “helping hands” help others.  This letter gives us the other side of the story.

“Thank you so much for sharing the baby kits with the needy in Bangkok.  I understand your home ward in the States completed these kits upon learning of some of the needs in Thailand.  How kind and thoughtful of those Relief Society Sisters!  When I looked at the kits, I could tell how much time, effort, and love each contained.  It was such a blessing to be able to share the kits with those in need.

Not long after you shared the baby kits, this sweet baby was born.  I was able to visit her mother and give her some needed items, including the lovely blanket and other items included in the newborn kit.  She was so pleased!  The parents are new converts to the church, and refugees from Cambodia.   They were struggling to provide the basic necessities for themselves and their newborn baby.  They were so thankful to receive the newborn kit in their time of need.

I also passed along many of the kits to two of our LDS Charities missionaries serving as Thailand’s country directors of the welfare work being done there.  They were so excited to have the kits and looked forward to sharing them.  LDS charities has been able to open doors in Thailand and foster some wonderful relationships with Bangkok officials.  Each kindness and act of service continues to help officials see the true nature of the church and to look more favorably upon us.  The gift of newborn kits will continue to help increase those good relationships, besides blessing many lives of mothers and babies in the beautiful “Land of Smiles”.

Please pass along our heartfelt thanks to the Relief Society Sisters that donated their time and resources to provide these wonderful gifts of love to our Sisters in Thailand.”
