Another One in Hebrew

Please see last Sunday’s post for the background material to see the masculine form of number one. There is a feminine number one in Hebrew. This second one is pronounced `ahat and looks like this:

אחת

The first character is the Aleph, א, and represents God who is the one and should be number one in our lives; which is the same as the masculine form of one in Hebrew.

The second character is the Chet, ח, and it represents an enclosed sacred place or more specifically the Holy of Holies or the place where God lives or His presence. Again, which is the same as the masculine form of one in Hebrew.

The last character is the Tav, ת, which is different from the masculine form of one. In most languages masculine forms represent both male and female. So the masculine form of one applies to both genders in that the best way for both men and women to become one with God is being worthy to go to the temple and go often. The feminine form of one applies only to the sisters and has special meaning. The Tav, ת, is the last letter of the Hebrew alphabet, and it, like the Chet, ח, represents the Holy of Holies or the presence of the Lord. The difference, as the final letter, is the destination or end where we should end up at the end of our lives, to return to the presence of the Lord.

The feminine form of one shows that women have a special blessing and destination, above men, to get back and return to the presence of the Lord. Now you know why it is so important to have Mom at home, if at all possible, so that her family has a better chance of everyone getting back to the presence of the Lord.
